Braai

A widely used noun and verb for an outdoor ‘barbecue’ where meat is cooked over a fire or coal. A braai is a popular social event in South Africa and even has its own dedicated public holiday, known as National Braai Day, which coincides with Heritage Day celebrated annually on September 24.


Let's go buy some beer and some meat for tonight's braai.



Mampara Week

Mampara week is the week before payday, where everyone just doesn’t have money.

Tribalism

Tribalism is the attitude and practice of harbouring such a strong feeling of loyalty or bonds to one's tribe that one excludes or even demonises other tribes that do not belong to that group.

Tembisa or Thembisa is a large township situated to the north of Kempton Park on the East Rand, Gauteng, South Africa.

GNU

GNU, or Government of National Unity, is a government that was proposed by the ANC after they failed to achieve above 50% in the 2024 Elections. It entails forming a broad coalition government consisting of all parties represented in the national legislature. 


I don't know how to feel about this GNU.

Egypt's sprawling capital on the Nile, home to ancient pyramids and modern urban life.

Seychelles

An Indian Ocean archipelago known for luxury tourism, beautiful beaches, and conservation efforts.


The Seychelles has the smallest population of any African sovereign country.



Magesi

Magesi is a South African football team that plays in the Betway Premiership. They recently won their first trophy, in their first season in top flight football, by beating Mamelodi Sundowns.


Magesi is here to dominate.



Backroom

A backroom is a room in a yard that's usually at the back of the main house. It is mostly used for rental purposes.
