amatile-tile

Xhosa plural for stratagems. It is actually just amatile. Singular is itile. The ti is pronounced like English tea and le as in French. From the Sanskrit kutila which appear in Xhosa as ukutila.


My car broke down on the way, I had to make amatile-tile to get here.

Braai

This is a South African way of saying Barbecue.


Tonight, we deserve to have  braai and celebrate the great year we've had

Mfethu

Mfethu is a Nguni term, short for mfowethu, meaning my brother. It is generally used to refer to a man, doesn’t have to be related to you.

Ukuqabula is an informal Xhosa term for taking out babalaas. Basically the act of drinking the morning after a heavy night of drinking.

MacG is a South African DJ and Podcaster who runs the biggest podcast in Africa called Podcast and Chill, alongside Sol Phenduka and a host whose name is not revealed (referred to as the "Ghost Lady").
