Vakamorah

NEW
A Vakamorah is a person who left his Kasi - his village, his roots, his dust, his people in Kameelrivier B, Siyabuswa - and went to grind in the big cities of South Africa: Pretoria, Johannesburg, Durban, Cape Town.

He left with a promise that he will come back to build. His Kasi prayed for him, his mother blessed him, his friends gave him farewell.

But after he found his feet in the city, after he got a job, a room, a car, a new life - he never came back home to build. He never laid a brick. He never fixed the gate. He never invested back. He never poured back into the soil that raised him. He grinds for the city, but not for his Kasi.
Example

- "My cousin is a Vakamorah - 8 years in Pretoria grinding but no brick at home in B."
- "We don't need Vakamorahs, we need builders who come back."
- "He left Kameelrivier B to grind in Jozi but never came back home to build."

CULTURAL NOTE:
Common phenomenon in South African Kasi life. This word was created to name that pain and to remind the youth: Leave to grind, but come back to build
